What is Massage Therapy?

Massage Therapy in British Columbia has been a regulated health care profession since 1946 and is regulated by the College of Massage Therapists of BC.

The practice of massage therapy is the assessment of soft tissue and joints of the body for the treatment and prevention of disfunction, injury, pain and physical disorders. Registered Massage Therapists undergo extensive training in the treatment and prevention of injury, pain and physical disorders though the manual manipulation of structures of the body such as ligaments, tendons, connective tissue, muscles, blood vessels, organs and other soft tissues.

What to Expect During Your Treatment

Each session includes time for assessment, informed consent, hands-on treatment, and post-treatment home care recommendations.

Your Registered Massage Therapist will begin with a brief assessment, reviewing your medical history and any current concerns to ensure the treatment is safe, appropriate, and tailored to your needs.

Before beginning, the treatment plan will be clearly explained, and your informed consent will be obtained.

This is followed by the hands-on portion of your treatment.

At the end of the session, your therapist will offer personalized home care advice to support your recovery and overall well-being.
